Pohjola Armchair by Pekka Perjo

Pekka Perjo's Pohjola armchair, landscape.

“Pohjola” is a massive, comfortable, low-set armchair with a plastic frame and leather upholstery. Its appearance is masculine, muscular, and overflowing, yet at the same time its curvy form is strangely sophisticated. The chair was designed by the Finnish interior designer and musician Pekka Perjo in 1965, and manufactured by Haimi. The design is very unique, in part because it is one of the only furniture pieces Perjo designed. The chair was created for the Finnish insurance company Pohjola.

The chair is no longer in production, but second hand chairs can be bought for about 800 €.
