“Z” Chair (No 42) by Kai Kristiansen

The No 42 is a slender dining chair that has distinctive Z-shaped armrests and an inclining back and rear legs. The chair is sometimes referred to as the Z chair. It was created by Danish designer Kai Kristiansen in 1956 for Schou Andersen.

The chair presented here is made of rosewood, but it is also available in other materials such as oak and walnut wood. The chair is a combination of stunning looks and functionality. It’s very comfortable to sit in and light to move around.

The No 42 chair is still in production and available at kaikristiansen.com. Vintage chairs can have a hefty price tag, with asking prices well above 1000€ per chair.
