Aalto Model 68 Chair

Alvar Aalto's model 68 side chair

The Model 68 chair, designed by Alvar Aalto in 1935, is a true everyday classic of Finnish furniture design. This casual side chair is such a common household item in Finnish homes and public spaces that it is easy to overlook for the iconic example of functionalist design that it actually is.

The chair is made of bent birch plywood and it is stackable up to 4 chairs. The seat was available in different variations of upholstery. Aalto also designed many similar chair versions ranging from the Model 60 stool to the Model 69 chair.

The chair is still in production by Artek and priced around 500€.
